(BPM) hustl. announced today that iconic Japanese metal band Babymetal will join Marvel Zombies on a limited-edition variant cover to celebrate the release of Marvel Zombies: War Zone (2026) #1.
This collaboration was inspired by Babymetal's connection to Marvel Animation's Marvel Zombies on Disney+, after their song "from me to u" was featured in the trailer for the show. The song was originally released on their record-breaking fourth-studio album Metal Forth, which made its debut last year at #9 on the Billboard 200, marking the band's first-ever U.S. Top 10 album and the first time in history that an all-Japanese fronted group has made this list.
The 3,500 copy limited run features art from Phil Noto and is available now for pre-order through the Capitol Records online store, and for the hobby market though hustl. It will be available for pre-order in Japan on September 7th. The original comic with standard cover is available in comic shops starting September 2nd.
BABYMETAL shared their thoughts on the collaboration below:
"We are truly honored to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Marvel, a beloved around the world for so many years. Gracing a comic book cover alongside Marvel's characters is the best surprise we could have asked for. We hope our fans are as excited as we are!"
Formed in 2010, BABYMETAL created kawaii metal and revolutionized heavy music with their unique fusion of J-pop and crushing riffs. They quickly gained popularity in Japan for their explosive live shows and by 2013, they had become a force of their own opening for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, and Lady Gaga, and bringing the ferocity of metal to a global audience. Fronted by three dynamic women - SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL - BABYMETAL has helped reshape the face of metal, inspiring a new generation of women and girls who see themselves in this sound and on these stages.
This year, the group has released METAL FORTH (DELUXE EDITION,) and are kicking off a world tour this September. They will be making stops in major cities across North America to showcase their electrifying live performance.
About the comic: ESCAPE THE HUNGER! A ZOMBIE outbreak has hit Manhattan and the whole city is rapidly overrun! As EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES succumb to the virus, a barrier is hastily erected to protect the world - but inside the barrier, a war zone has broken out as survivors fight for their lives against the ever-growing horde. However, one man isn't looking for survival - he's after answers as he carves a bloody swathe of his own through the ravaged city. And if any zombies get in his way? Well, the PUNISHER has plenty of lead that they can eat!
hustl. CEO Keri Harris noted, "BABYMETAL's connection with Marvel and hustl.'s ongoing efforts to authentically connect music, sports, and Marvel drove this collaboration. Phil Noto's art style was perfect for this cover and we are really excited that we were able to work though making this available to fans in the US and Japan."
