(MS) Podcaster, broadcaster, and Primer 55 bassist Joshua Toomey has revealed that fans can expect new music from Primer 55, marking the band's first new recording in many years.
The announcement came during an interview on the Talking Metal Podcast with Mark Strigl recorded in Clifton, New Jersey, shortly before Primer 55 performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Dingbatz.
When asked about the possibility of new Primer 55 music, Toomey offered a promising update: "We keep talking about it. I know there'll at least be a song coming soon. That's about all I can say on that one."
While details remain limited, the confirmation represents the strongest indication yet that new Primer 55 material is actively being discussed and developed.
During the interview, Toomey also discussed The David Ellefson Show, the podcast he co-hosts with former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and reflected on how the project has evolved since its inception.
"Honestly, my vision for The David Ellefson Show when I pitched it to him was just, hey, I'll reach out to you. I'll give you a topic. You'll bounce off me, and then we'll promote your basses, and your touring, and Kings Of Thrash, whatever you're doing. It turned out more like, hey, should we have guests? It's funny how dedicated he is to making sure we have an episode out, to hey, do we have any guests in the can? What do we have lined up? It's obviously been pretty wild for me too, just because honestly, David Ellefson is one of the reasons I play bass. It's like sometimes when I look down at the phone, I see it's him texting or him calling. I'm still like 12-year-old me is still going, oh my God, it's David Ellefson."
