Tokio Hotel Announce New Album With 'Memory Lane' Video

(The Syndicate) Germany's biggest rock band, Tokio Hotel, announced their seventh studio album, Encore, for an October 16 release, sharing the single "Memory Lane," with a live introduction of its accompanying video via the band YouTube channel.

"Memory Lane" is more than just a throwback track. The song bridges the gap between the band members' early youth and the lives the four of them lead today. It's about a feeling many people know: looking back on a time, a place, or people who shaped you. Childhood friendships, old paths, first dreams, and the question of what has become of it all.

In the lyrics, vocalist Bill Kaulitz reminisces about growing up in and around Magdeburg, about friendships, and the early days of Tokio Hotel. Long before "Durch den Monsun" changed everything back in 2005, turning four German teenagers into one of Europe's biggest pop phenomena overnight. It's this bittersweet mix of nostalgia and gratitude that runs through the entire song. They are memories of a time that wasn't always easy, but one that significantly shaped the band. A time when suddenly everything grew bigger, and four boys, juggling extreme fame with ordinary teenage worries, came of age in the public eye.

The "Memory Lane" video picks up on this theme. In the clip, Tokio Hotel reclaim a piece of their own youth: the prom they never got to experience when their career was first taking off. Since many fans grew up alongside the band and thus became part of the band's "Memory Lane", the band cast fans as extras for the video. A call for participants on social media generated a massive response and numerous press reports. More than 4,000 applications were received, from which 64 fans were later invited to the prom in Berlin.

Over the past few years, Tokio Hotel have repeatedly proven that they don't need to fit into any particular mold to be successful. Musical evolution and artistic freedom define the band's discography, without them ever losing their own unique identity.

With Encore, Tokio Hotel return to the band's roots and project them into the year 2026: dreamy guitars, echoing backing vocals, and tension-filled verses build an atmosphere from the very first second that bursts into an emotionally charged release in the chorus.

Following their nearly sold-out North and South American tour in 2024 and their completely sold-out European tour in 2025, Tokio Hotel are currently experiencing a new international career high. Driven by their massive social media presence, the successful podcast "Kaulitz Hills: Senf aus Hollywood," and the Netflix series "Kaulitz & Kaulitz," the band now reaches a cross-generational audience of longtime fans and a new, young fan community.

As part of their nearly sold-out 2026 arena tour, Tokio Hotel will present their new album starting in October, bringing their most elaborate and ambitious live concept to date to the stage. The tour will stretch across Europe, including dates in France, UK, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and several German cities.
