(Nuclear Blast) Dimmu Borgir today unleash Grand Serpent Rising, their long-awaited new studio album and first full-length release in eight years since Eonian. Formed in 1993 by guitarist Sven "Silenoz" Kopperud and vocalist Stian "Shagrath" Thoresen during the height of Norway's second-wave black metal movement, Dimmu Borgir have never rushed the creative process - and the crushing weight and cinematic scope of Grand Serpent Rising proves the wait was worthwhile.

Recorded in Gothenburg with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordstrom - the architect behind landmark Dimmu Borgir albums Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon - the new record delivers thirteen punishing yet remarkably diverse tracks that push the band's symphonic extremity to towering new heights.

To celebrate today's release, the band has also unveiled a stunning new cinematic video for the track 'As Seen In The Unseen', further cementing Grand Serpent Rising as one of the year's most anticipated extreme metal releases.

Shagrath comments on the album release: "Grand Serpent Rising captures everything Dimmu Borgir has been and become - it's darker, more brutal, yet melodic and diverse.
