American Football Stream Their New Album LP4

(The Oriel Company) Twenty-six years after their touchstone, self-titled debut, Midwest-rock icons American Football have unveiled their highly anticipated, fourth studio album American Football (LP4) produced & mixed by Sonny DiPierri (My Bloody Valentine, Portugal. The Man, Nine Inch Nails) and released via Polyvinyl Record Co. Listen to the brand new record here. The album is a triumphant return for a band that, despite releasing their debut iconic record a quarter of a century ago, is continuing to reach new musical heights.

LP4 sees the band face some of life's harshest realities head-on, reflecting on the disorientation, compromise, grief, and hard-won perspective of middle age. Overhauling their writing and recording processes decades into their fabled career, the band has created an album that is sure to satisfy existing fans while continuing to reach new and younger audiences. In a world where American Football releases aren't a given and far and few between, keeping listeners on their toes and building a legion of fans in the process, LP4 delivers on the hype.

The album's singles "Bad Moons" and "No Feeling," featuring Turnstile's Brendan Yates, have received major praise from the likes of the Associated Press, NY Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Consequence, SPIN, and more. Meanwhile, the album's focus track, "Wake Her Up," is arguably the band's most pop-forward song they've created. Featuring ethereal vocals from Wisp set against a sonic backdrop filled with percussion, electronic guitar riffs, the band effortlessly infuses elements of classic pop, 80s alternative, and British Rock into a true standout off the record.

Last Thursday (April 23), fans of American Football flocked to record stores around the world to share in an LP4 global listening party, spanning over 30 US states and numerous countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Mexico. Attendees also received a special zine written by the band and Sonny DiPierri, including photos taken by the band during LP4's recording, along with expanded liner notes for each song, an inspirations playlist, and even detailed guitar tunings for fans to play along at home.
