The gorgeous take on the 1990 power ballad also arrives with a powerful music video highlighting the growing suicide epidemic in the U.S. with a call to action for all those who need help. The video ws directed by Paul Boyd and Ed Shiers.
"Working with Geoff Tate on this song was amazing," shares Deimer. "Along with Chris Lord-Alge, Geoff is a huge mentor to me. The music video shows the raw footage of us all in the studio recording it because we really wanted to show the passion, heart and soul that went into the recording process of this version of the song. Suicide prevention is also really important to me. I made a point to include information in the video to not only bring awareness but to hopefully encourage someone who needs help to get it."
A Grog Is Born, produced by five-time GRAMMY-winning producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Breaking Benjamin), includes the thunderous Top 40 Active Rock radio single "In Deep" featuring Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd, recent country-rock track "Always There" and the single "Scared To Death," the featured track in Deimer's new irreverent, high-voltage horror-comedy of the same name in which he stars as the scene-stealing character, The Grog. The Scared To Death film - starring Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley and written and directed by Paul Boyd (Neon Trees, Dave Stewart, Shania Twain) - was released in theaters on March 13th and will be available on demand on all major digital platforms across North America starting May 5th. Deimer's role has been hailed as "bold and intense" and "the heart" of the film.
The forthcoming 12-track collection - the cinematic follow-up to Deimer's 2025 debut full-length album, And So It Begins..., co-written with Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X and also produced by Lord-Alge - finds Deimer taking a major leap as a vocalist and bandleader, stretching out his instrument beyond distinctively low speak-singing into a more robust melodic style. A Grog Is Born touches on everything from bruising hard rock to epic balladry, while overtly connecting Deimer The Singer and Deimer The Horror Star under the Grog moniker. His more confident and colorful delivery, elevated by years on the road, allowed him to explore an even more impressive range of styles.
