(BT PR) Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy releases his third album The Weight of the Woods via Interscope Records. Highlights on the new album include "Turnstile" and several tracks that were unveiled ahead of album release including the anthemic, passionate lead single "Funeral," the reflective "Honest," and stunner "Refuge."
The Weight of the Woods was largely written and recorded in a studio down the road from Dermot's home in rural Ireland. Dermot worked with close collaborator and producer Gabe Simon [Noah Kahan, Lana Del Rey] both in Ireland, and at Simon's studio in Nashville. The result is an organic intersection of cultures and musical influences, which heavily draws inspiration, energy, and strength from Ireland itself. "To me, the album is a beautiful homegrown thing with Irish instruments and an Irish story. There's a forest behind my house, which is a haven for my sense of wonder. It's a peaceful place where I can escape. I've entertained the idea of living somewhere else, but I don't think I'd be happy anywhere else." Stream it here
In support of the new album, Dermot will embark on massive tours of the UK, Europe and North America as well as stops at international festivals including the UK's Radio 1's Big Weekend and Japan's Summer Sonic. The extensive live run includes appearances at iconic venues including a return to London's O2, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, Los Angeles' Greek Theatre and Forest Hills Stadium in New York among others.
