(IC) Swae Lee shares the first taste of new music from his forthcoming debut solo album, SAME DIFFERENCE. The Rae Sremmurd supernova first shared details of his debut solo LP via Instagram on Monday, February 23. Now, the artist unveils the project's first single, "FLAMMABLE," which arrives ahead of Swae's highly anticipated return to the Coachella stage. The new project marks a bold new era for one of rap's most inventive stylists.
Lyrically, Swae showcases the playful one-liners that have long been his calling card. Over a beat produced by Rosen that marries the epic melodies of Just Blaze instrumentals with the 2020s Atlanta trap sound, Swae dances from bar to bar, displaying the blend of melody and dextrous delivery that has long made him one of rap's most exciting voices. "My fans been waiting to eat. Let the feast begin.," says Swae of the new era.
In the cinematic video for "FLAMMABLE," Swae cooks up a backcountry bayou bash, co-starring a flamethrower, a fanboat, and plenty of beautiful women. The clip, directed by Logan Meis, pays homage to the rapper's Southern roots and freewheeling approach to hip-hop.
The lead up to Swae's Gemini era on SAME DIFFERENCE has been marked by a series of milestones. In June of last year, Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" earned a Diamond certification. The song, originally released in 2016 also topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. The release of "FLAMMABLE" arrives as Rae Sremmurd's catalog experiences renewed momentum, fueled in part by a wave of nostalgia-driven "2016-era" trends across social media with fans revisiting the cultural moment that "Black Beatles" helped define. In October, Swae helped set a Guinness World RecordsTM title during the release of hit video game Ninja Gaiden 4.
