(The GreenRoom) Just in time for the summer, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Charles Kelley announces Y'all Aboard Hosted by Charles Kelley, airing exclusively on SiriusXM's Yacht Rock Radio (ch. 15). Launching tonight (5/27) at 6:00 p.m. ET with Little Big Town's Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook as his first guests, fans can expect six upcoming episodes featuring Russell Dickerson, Dustin Lynch, Richard Marx, Trisha Yearwood, and more. LISTEN HERE.
"'80s music always hits, but it's the best time of the year to turn up some Yacht Rock," shares Kelley. "I've been having such a good time kicking back with my friends and vibing out to some of my favorite songs ever released."
Inviting his Country music friends to join him in-studio each week to swap stories, spin their favorite Yacht Rock tracks, and occasionally attempt a Michael McDonald impression or two, the limited show welcomes listeners to come on board. To celebrate hosting Y'all Aboard Hosted by Charles Kelley, Kelley will also appear for a special episode of SiriusXM's Music Row Happy Hour live from Nashville, TN, on July 24.
Riding the wave of '80s inspiration since releasing his sophomore album, SONGS FOR A NEW MOON, American Songwriter hailed, "the infectious melodies, luxurious pop production, light, and ambiance that inspired the Georgia native to chase a music career overflow from his new songs." Likewise, Atwood Magazine praised his "bold '80s-inspired sounds and raw honesty," while PEOPLE applauded Kelley's ability to "transport listeners back to a time when music, and the world around it, simply felt better." Most recently, he tapped into the steamy ballads that defined this era by adding Maren Morris to an original album cut, and dropped their "swoon worthy" (MusicRow) "Can't Be Alone Tonight" collaboration.
As one-third of Country trio Lady A and a chart-topping songwriter on his own, Kelley has often stepped outside of his default creative setting. Along with culture-defining hits for his own band, he's co-penned favorites for Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Brett Young, and more. With 2016's THE DRIVER, his solo debut explored a vision of the modern singer-songwriter, leading to another GRAMMY nomination for the project's title track.
