(BT PR) Acclaimed singer-songwriter Maggie Rose unveils her stirring new single "Gentle Man". The vulnerable and deeply reflective ballad showcases the emotional depth and powerhouse vocal delivery that defines Maggie's signature sound.
"Gentle Man" is the second track to be released ahead of the forthcoming album Half Moon, due August 14th on One Riot. Half Moon arrives on the heels of a landmark creative run for Rose, whose recent work has earned GRAMMY recognition and critical praise for fearless songwriting and commanding performances.
Produced by Lawrence Rothman and Daniel Tashian, "Gentle Man" finds Rose leaning into intimate, quiet honesty. Anchored by warm instrumentation and cinematic production, the song explores masculinity through a compassionate lens - celebrating emotional openness, tenderness, and the courage it takes to love gently in a hardened world. Written by Maggie and Rothman, "Gentle Man" reveals the textured sonic palette of Half Moon, an album Rose has described as "orchestral and wide-ranging." The new record continues Rose's evolution beyond genre boundaries, blending Americana, soul, folk, and cinematic pop into a sound entirely her own.
Speaking about the song, Maggie explains, "'Gentle Man' came out of my first time meeting and writing with Lawrence Rothman. I walked away from that day knowing that both that song and person were going to change my life for the better. We got right to the good stuff; gender identity, the roughness of the world, and the courage it takes to keep exploring who you are. I love that it is an offering for listeners who are still figuring out who they are and also for those who are trying to challenge and break out of cycles they have found themselves in. When I found out that my son Graham was on the way, the song became non-negotiable for the album as a dedication to him. In the live setting we describe this moment as the "Eye of the Storm," because it's a meditative moment that we build up to with an arrangement that is made for that arc - a quiet, acoustic slow burn that breaks open at the bridge into a huge, full-band moment. I love that the patience of the song plays into the idea of being gentle with one's self as we are on the path to self discovery."
"Gentle Man" follows the release of the groove-driven lead single "Red Shoes," offering a striking contrast in tone while reinforcing the emotional breadth of the new music.
