(2911) Singer-songwriter, producer, and author Kelly Lang is kicking off a new chapter with the release of her latest single, "I Reach For Red," the first offering from her upcoming album Jealous Green Eyes, sponsored by Gus Arrendale and Springer Mountain Farms.
One to always write outside the box, Lang has created a modern track that nods to the distinctive sounds of the 1980s, reminiscent of artists like K.T. Oslin, where a glass of red wine becomes the go-to companion no matter the situation. The single and music video for "I Reach For Red" was premiered by Dillon Weldon and Drifting Cowboy.
"I wrote 'I Reach For Red' many years ago in a hotel room in Jackson, Tennessee, and the whole song came together in about 30 minutes," shares Lang. "It was inspired by a woman I knew who loved her red wine, and I figured there were probably plenty of others who could relate to the story in the lyrics. I'm not much of a drinker myself, but I do enjoy singing a fun song for those who are. 'I Reach For Red' also gives listeners a little glimpse into the more grown-up side of my upcoming album 'Jealous Green Eyes'."
Marking her first album made up entirely of songs she wrote or co-wrote since 2017, Jealous Green Eyes is set to arrive later this summer. Featuring eleven tracks, Kelly Lang leaves no stone unturned, delivering songs that explore life, love, heartbreak, and divorce with her signature storytelling style. The album may even include a surprise "answer song" to one of country music's most iconic hits by a legendary artist she just happens to be married to-making this a project fans won't want to miss. Additional singles will roll out throughout the spring and summer ahead of the album's official release date, which will be announced soon.
