Singled Out: PLUME's Angel Engine

Rising alternative heavy rockers PLUME are gearing up to release their new album, "Saferooms & Healing Frequencies," on Sept 25th and to celebrate we asked them to tell us about the lead single "Angel Engine". Here is the story:

"Angel Engine" is based on an analog-horror/Creepypasta-style story about an angel who comes to Earth to save humanity, only to be captured by humans and exploited for its energy. The angel cannot die, so what was originally meant to be an act of salvation turns into an endless cycle of suffering and exploitation. I've always found angels very fascinating. They exist somewhere between the human and the divine and can represent both salvation and something deeply unsettling. I wouldn't necessarily describe myself as religious, but I do believe in the supernatural and in the possibility of some kind of higher power, which made this story a really interesting starting point for the song.

To me, the angel represents this desire to find some kind of answer or salvation outside of yourself. I think we all have moments where we want something bigger to come along and just fix things for us. But in this story, that idea gets pretty dark pretty quickly. I liked playing with that contrast. It's something that feels beautiful and almost comforting at first, but slowly turns into something really creepy.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
