Blink-182's Travis Barker appeared on The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music to discuss his upcoming documentary "Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear," nearly 10 years in the making.
The show sent over the following details and an excerpt: During the conversation, Travis opens up about becoming a father and the importance of being a good dad, his relationship with drumming and how it has become therapeutic for him, his ongoing relationship with the fear of flying following his plane crash, how post-traumatic therapy has helped him, giving up drugs, and his relationships with Blink-182.
Travis Barker on why he wanted to make his documentary "Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear": It started right after I finished my book or after my book came out. That was the beginning of it. And I just thought it would be cool, especially because I came so close to not being here.
I was like, "It would be really cool to share my story, and in a more in-depth version of my story than my book," which would be the documentary. At that time, my mindset was like, "Yo, I'm the only one left. I feel like I could go at any minute."
I thought there was so many good learning lessons from my doc, whether it's if you're from a small town and your parents don't have money and you grow up very minimal, low-income family, you could still dream and you could still achieve your dreams and succeed if you just keep pushing.
And then the story of just survival, whether it's like when my mom died or my plane crash, it's like you have a couple choices. You can either curl up in a ball and let the world just completely take over you and give up or you can fight and even come back stronger than you were.
