One of the highlights of Paul McCartney's forthcoming album "The Boys of Dungeon Lane," finds the Beatles legend reuniting with Ringo Starr for a new duet entitled "Home To Us."
McCartney revealed the news about the duet during a special listening session with producer Andrew Watt last Thursday (April 16th). "I think Ringo thought that all he had to do was play a little bit of drums, and Andrew would make some marvelous thing out of it," McCartney said (via Variety).
Following the recording, Paul asked Watt to play him what they had captured with Ringo, "just see what he did, out of curiosity...I thought, 'Wow, that's really good...We should make the track that Ringo hoped, and then get it over to him and complete the circle.'"
That inspired McCartney to write lyrics about growing up in Liverpool and they sent it to Ringo to add his vocals to it. But there was some confusion and Starr only sang on the chorus, but eventually added more vocals and drums to the track.
"It's a duet," McCartney confirmed during the listening session. "It was really nice, because we've never done that. Ringo's never just taken a duet with one of the Beatles, you know? So, there you go. We had it."
Fans can hear the results when "The Boys of Dungeon Lane" is released on May 29th.
