Royal Metal-band REXORIA are gearing up to release their new album "Fallen Dimension" on May 8th and just released the second single "Heart of Sorrow", which is a duet with Johnny Gioeli. To celebrate we asked Frida Ohlin to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
For our fourth album, we wanted to try something different to push ourselves and step outside our comfort zone. Since we're usually a very high-energy band with fast songs, we felt the need to slow things down for once. To create something powerful, emotional, and honest - a true power ballad with that timeless 80s feeling.
The melody came to me almost instantly, and as soon as I started singing Jonas, my co-writer and lead guitarist, immediately understood the direction and emotion of it. But something was still missing. That final piece to really make the song come alive.
It had to be a duet. And there was only one voice we had in mind: Johnny Gioeli the almighty king of power ballads and the voice of Hardline and Axel Rudi Pell.
We reached out and sent him the demo, not knowing what to expect... and to our amazement, he loved it. He was fully on board.
The result became a beautifully crafted, emotional song that truly means a lot to us - and judging by the response we have gotten, so do many of you readers as well.
Johnny's raw, powerful voice together with my more clear and emotional tone created something really special. Something that just feels right.
If you haven't heard it yet, we truly hope you take a few minutes to listen.
This is a song you don't just hear - you feel it.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
