Devil's Cut are gearing up to release their new album "Roadkill" on April 24th and to celebrate we asked vocalist Trey Landrum to tell us about the title track. Here is the story:
"Roadkill" was the last song we wrote for the record. We had a few other songs in our demo box to pull from, but Zach (guitarist Zach McConnell) started riffing around in the studio and we were like "YO! That's sick!" Evan McKeever (producer) suggested that we just write a new one from scratch, and that's what we did!
Once everything was mapped out, we started talking about lyrics and I always had this idea using "roadkill" as a metaphor for being sucked dry and left for dead in a toxic relationship. Everyone loved the idea! So, we just ran with it.
We wrote the song in a total of maybe eight hours, and it was one of our favorites for the record. It's crazy to think when we still had other great songs in our demo box, but maybe we'll bust them out on the next record!
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
