Geoff Tate spoke about a memorable encounter with Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose in the late 1980s during a new interview with Mark Strigl on SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard last week.
Tate recalled, "Axl Rose came out to our show at Irvine Meadows, gosh, when I think Operation Mindcrime was just coming out... 87 or 88 I think it was. He actually introduced the band for our show which was really cool.
"I thought what a nice guy and the crowd went crazy. We went on stage and played the show and then came back and Axl was asleep on the sofa in the dressing room and all our beer was gone."
