The "River of Doubt" represents that current of negativity and skepticism that can surround you, whether it comes from people you thought were your friends, concerned family members, or your own inner voice.
Instead of being victim to the undertow, the song is about pushing forward through that endless current and proving-to yourself most of all, that you're stronger than the doubts placed on you.
Ultimately, it stands as a reminder that even when belief from others fades, the determination to keep going can still carry you somewhere better.
